Berries, Nuts, and Bees
I have always believed in eating fresh and healthy food. I grew up on a farm which is one big health food store! Around my house and my friend’s house, there were fig, nut, berry trees. Eating fresh and healthy was always very important. Vegetables. Nuts. My parents strongly believed in growing everything themselves.
After school, I would climb up trees with friends on the roof and eat fresh figs from the trees above my house. We would eat as much as we could, and dry the rest on the roof. We had chameleons that would eat the berries near me, while I was eating berries, too.
We also had a tiny orchard that was growing right onto our kitchen roof where there were a lot of bees. I would want to shoosh the bees away, but my father taught me to share with the bees, and the bees would eat from one side and I would eat from another. We always had fresh honey from our hives (boxes). Fresh honey is creamier, cloudy, and I used to eat the honeycomb fresh from the hive. The bees graciously allowed me to share some of it with them.
