Lucky Green Doughnuts
Feeling Lucky? Green frosted doughnuts are an adorable dessert to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.
These wonderful treats are sure to put a smile on your face and maybe even bring some rainbows and lucky charms your way. These are a cake type of doughnut, and they are baked instead of fried, so that’s a good excuse to eat more than one! They are excellent with a strong cup of coffee.
Lucky Green Doughnuts
Makes 22 Doughnuts
Ingredients:
2 eggs
3 cups all purpose flour
3/4 cup of sugar
1/2 cup butter
1 cup of milk
2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Medium size non stick Doughnut Pan
1 container of green and white sprinkles
1 jar of green sugar crystals
Directions:
Preheat Oven to 350 degrees
1. In a food processor add the flour, sugar, baking powder, nutmeg, and salt. Pulse until combined well.
2. Add the eggs, butter, milk and vanilla. Pulse until all ingredients mix well together
3. Spray the doughnut pan with butter, and fill the wells 3/4 full
4. Bake for 20 minutes until golden.
5. Transfer the doughnuts to a wire rack to cool.
Green Glaze
2 cups powdered sugar
4 tablespoons milk
1 tube of green food gel
Directions:
1. In a large mixing bowl combine the powdered sugar with the milk and mix well
2. Add the green food gel and combine. You can use as much or as little as you want to create the shade of green that you would like.
3. Dip the doughnuts into the different shades of green, and sprinkle them with candies and let set.
4. Place on a serving platter and enjoy.
